Staying at a Westin is always a wonderful experience! The place feels more like a resort than anything else, and has many attractions nearby if you are willing to spend the money. The rooms are beautiful, and the room I was in had a wonderful view of the pool. Whether you decide to go exploring, or stay in your room, you will have a good stay.
I had no problems with their wake up call service, and the staff was prompt and friendly. The room was quiet and very clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, crew or otherwise.
I am happy to report that this hotel was amazing, and it made my stay above and beyond what I would have expected. The staff was very kind and understanding (thanks for the Vacuum Michael!), Free continental breakfast, indoor pool, and well stocked work out room made it a great choice in layover hotels! My only complaint is that it looks like my Airline will stop using the Fairfield after this month, and switching to the Hyatt down the street. Hopefully they stack up well against the Fairfield!
Overall, the hotel stay was pleasant, the hotel room was nice, and barring some construction in the city, the view was very nice. The pool and workout facilities were very well maintained and the staff that greeted us when we arrived was very welcoming and kind. The hotel is in the perfect area to explore the town, and if you enjoy the show Breaking Bad, you will love all the little places and shops that cater to the show. Its a great place to get to know the town.
Overall, The downtown Sheraton was not terrible, and I know that they cannot control everyone who stays at the hotel, but the walls were definitely thin, and you could hear everything when people would loudly go down the hall. The breakfast was a terrible value, but the location is very good for exploring. We heard it was near the liberty bell, and a fresh market, so I hope to explore these next time I go.
If you’re in Mexico City and in the mood to dive into Mexican culture and great food within a short distance from the airport, go see Hector! He will always greet you with a huge smile and a warm welcome. His food is very authentic and delicious, given in large portions, and still inexpensive. Several different salsas and guacamole were served complimentary, and I had a large bowl of tortilla soup for just $3. What’s more is Hector genuinely LOVES airline crew. He will most likely ask you to sign his 777 airplane poster, and no worries if you come alone or in a group- He’s always down for a lovely chat! I am claiming Hector as my Mexican Uncle…. When I told him that it was my first time leaving my hotel for that layover, he wrote his number on a napkin and made me promise I would call him next time I’m in town so that he could walk me from my hotel to the restaurant. In my opinion, these are the kinds of business owners we should be supporting whenever at all possible!
Don’t forget to bring cash (US dollars are just fine)!
